Newark Academy Students Host Rubik’s Cube Competition to Benefit The Apostles’ House

This summer, Newark Academy students Evan Yao ’25 and Vir Sarai ’25 turned their passion for problem-solving into an incredible act of generosity. As part of their CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) project, the two students organized an official Rubik’s Cube competition at Newark Academy in partnership with the World Cube Association (WCA).

The event brought together cube enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to compete and enjoy a day of fun and friendly competition. But beyond showcasing their speed-solving skills, Evan and Vir had a greater purpose in mind. They dedicated the proceeds from the event—an impressive $1,400—to support The Apostles’ House.

Their effort reflects Newark Academy’s long-standing commitment to community service and making a positive impact beyond the classroom. We are incredibly grateful to Evan, Vir, and all the participants for their hard work and generosity, which will directly benefit families in need.

This partnership between students, the World Cube Association, and The Apostles’ House is a powerful example of how creativity and community spirit can come together to make a difference!
